From Søby to Ærøskøbing on foot!

Today we had planned to do something different: walking a (small) part of the 'Archipelago Trail', a 200 KM hiking trail through South Funen and some of the islands.

We took the bus from Ærøskøbing harbour to Søby (by the way, the buses on Ærø are free!). There we easily found the marker at the start of this stretch:

As you can see, we had to walk 19KM.

The trail follows farm roads, goes through fields and at some stage along a rocky beach. The terrain is at times a bit hilly, but not hectic at all. The weather was great, sunny with a slight breeze although it did get a bit warm towards the end.

Here are some impressions:

The last picture shows some 'bathing huts', which are on the beach just before you get back to Ærøskøbing. They have been there for many years, but one is not allowed to build new ones anymore. So they have become very sought after (and probably very valuable!). Some look relatively dilapidated, but others look like 'new', the trick is obviously to renovate an existing 'hut' into a 'new' one.

After almost 5 hours we got back to Onbekommerd and a welcome shower and rest.

Feikje had cooked dinner for us on Jildou, which was very welcome too!
