On Öland

We are now on Öland, Sweden's second biggest island (after Gotland). It is some 120 KM long but quite narrow, maybe 10 or 15 KM. Somwhat surprisingly, the northern village of Byxelkrok (how is that for an unusual name) has the same 'island feel' as we know from some of the Danish islands. It is really a holiday destination and after 15 August quite a few of the businesses around the harbour are simply closed! But today, another glorious sunny day with almost no wind, it was busy.
