5 June is 'Constitution Day' in Denmark!
We left Kappeln at 7:30 and had a 'champagne cruise' throughout the day! Sunny skies and light winds made for an extremely pleasant crossing, we entered Danish waters at 10:11 and were tied up in Sønderborg just after 11. This was to draw some Danish Kroner at an ATM and to visit the Telenor shop to put more data on my iPad and buy a data card and data for Lyn's one. Earlier I had put the SIM card from last year into my iPad and hey presto, I had a connection. Obviously there is some balance from last year still active. That is good, because.... The bank was easily found and Kroner dispensed as requested. Then to the Telenor shop. It was closed. Then it dawned on us that the streets were rather quiet and many other shops seemed to be closed too. A quick 'Google' taught us that the 5th of June is Constitution Day and hence a public holiday. So we went back to the boat and continued our journey relying on the 'old data' for comms. We'll do the necessary when we get to the next town big enough to warrant a Telenor shop. That is not where we are now, the small bay called Dyvig. Everyone who knows the place says that it is not possible to pass Dyvig without stopping for a night, either at anchor or tied on the jetty of the hotel. We were here last year and concur, so we are spending the night here. The only small drawback is that - due to the remoteness - the Internet signal is not 3G but EDGE, which is too slow to post pictures. So, assuming we have a better strength signal at Årø (a small island in the Lille Bælt) tomorrow, we will post the pictures then.
