Quaint Blankaholm

To start with, I need to say that I was a bit hasty with my opinion about Västervik yesterday. Now it's not the centre of the world, but it has a nice church and a good boat shop where they even had the spare I needed to repair the pump for the toilet. Job done!

On our way to Blankaholm we passed a typical Swedish summer scene: people enjoying the sun on a rock:

Blankaholm is a quaint place. A bit run down, but a nice atmosphere. It sort of feels you are at the end of the world. Vegetation generally seriously out of control (read: overgrown). A somewhat rickety jetty. If you want to buy alcohol, you order it on Monday and it gets delivered on Wednesday. Same for prescription medicines.
We hit the village on a festive day: there was a community crafts market when we arrived and at the moment there is a (rather loud) band playing in front of the cafe on shore. Good thing we are almost at the end of the jetty....
But all in all, it is a pleasant atmosphere.
