A bit more paperwork 'in the pipeline'.
We have Lyn's UK visa. We have applied for all sorts of certificates (birth- etc) and for second passports (the UK authorities need our original passports for 6 months to give Lyn a "residence card" and in the meantime, Onbekommerd will be calling! Fortunately, both the South African and the Dutch system allow second passports for circumstances like this. Now we just hope that they actually issue them!
Next is the Schengen visa, we'll apply next week for that. It will allow us up to 90 out of 180 days in the 'Schengen countries' of which the Netherlands is one.
We will be collecting 'Onbekommerd' from the 'winterberging' in Alkmaar on 7 April, that has now been confirmed.
Talk later!

This is "Onbekommerd"!

Progress
Well, if you have a blog, you better post on it, right? OK, we are still in the preliminaries but there is some stuff to report.
We had a major step forward in that Lyn's application to register with the Health Professionals Council in the UK was approved so she can now legally practise as a psychologist there. Useful when, after the summer, some work needs to be done!
We have also booked the flight out, leaving on 2 April (and returning on 19 December for our Christmas break).
And we have applied for Lyn's police clearance (that takes 6-8 weeks, so needed to be done early).
During February we'll do a lot more paperwork, its amazing how much there is to be done for such a relatively simple 'sabbatical'!

Our Blog
Well, here is "Onbekommerd"'s blog. We are trying this to see if this is the best way to keep friends and family abreast of what we are doing.
As many of our f's&f's know, we are off to the UK in April for a 'sabbatical' and to persue a few projects. We will spend as much time as we can on 'the boat' and that is why the blog is called "Onbekommerd". But it will give news about everything we do, not just when we are 'plying the waterways'.
Form time to time, we will post in Dutch as well. This is new to us, so bear with us. Also the layout and general 'view' will evolve as time goes by.
